“My ultimate goal was to play collegiate softball, which in fact came true since I will be playing at Montclair State University!
However, in the fall of my Senior year, things got a little rough when I got my first concussion.
I was sent to Rothman ASAP to see Dr.Franks, and then after, I was sent to see Anne for physical therapy for my head. Going to the Training Room was the best decision I could have ever made to help my concussion go away. We met once or twice a week hoping that the more we worked on things, the quicker it would go away. The two of us worked on my balancing, my memory, my eye movement and much more. One activity we did was when Anne put two pieces of paper on the wall a few inches a part with different letters on each, forcing me to move my eyes back and forth as fast as I can to improve my eye movement. Anne also gave me some “homework” to do, giving me some of the same activities to do everyday at home to help make things go away faster, which it did.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at the Training Room and with Rothman, helping me get back to finishing my final cross country season and the fall season with my travel team. I thought that my fall was over and I wouldn’t be able to play sports until the winter, but that wasn’t the case because of the amazing doctors and physical therapists that helped me through it. I was able to get back into my routine, play the sports I wanted to, and get into an awesome college and be able to fulfill my dream of playing college softball. Without the help of The Training Room, Anne, and Dr.Franks, I wouldn’t have been given this opportunity!
